The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. Further, they support ongoing engineering document development, design tasks, and quality control.

ACCOUNTABILITY DESCRIPTION

Efficiently work on multiple projects, advancing them from concept to successful conclusion with minimal supervision.

  • Design, perform calculations, select equipment, and layout Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, sub-contractors, owners representatives, and other external partners.
  • Similarly, coordinate designs with salespeople, project managers, field personnel, and other MacDonald-Miller colleagues.
  • Support mechanical construction projects with Revit, AutoCAD & Bluebeam Revu software.
  • Understand and stay current on codes, standards, and industry practices.
  • Learn and utilize company standards to deliver consistent design and construction documents.
  • File, organize and maintain all paperwork and digital files.
  • Express ideas clearly and listen effectively to others.
  • Mentor and train other team members.
  • Establish and maintain a solid rapport with co-workers and other departments.
  • Represent MacDonald-Miller’s vision and character both internally and externally.
  • Maintain a collaborative environment between engineers, CAD operators, BIM specialists, account executives, superintendents, operations managers, project managers, detailers and office personnel by following an integrated project development process to create documents for all project phases.

BENEFICIAL SKILL SETS

  • Knowledge and experience in both Mechanical and Plumbing design.
  • Revit experience and detailed understanding of its processes. e.g., Families, worksets, view templates, display filters, project & shared parameters, sheets & schedules, setting up and maintaining project files, etc.
  • Understanding of CADmep+ Fabrication for both AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge and experience with Navisworks and clash detection.

  • Naturally or with correction, able to see, hear well (either naturally or with correction) and speak clearly.
  • Coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, and fingers.
  • Physical requirements include: standing, bending, sitting, and repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
  • Reaching for handles and using fingers to manipulate objects.
  • Working conditions may include: working on ladders, on rooftops, in crawl spaces, in unheated areas, in all weather conditions and driving.
  • Capable of working extended hour days when job/business needs demand.
  • History of good employment attendance and dependability.
  • Possess a valid license and conservative driving record.
  • Pass a pre-hire drug screening (after job offer).
